Some of the peaks in this little known area are Mt. Peristeri (2295 meters or 7527 feet), Mt. Athamanon (2393 meters or 7849 feet), and Mt Pachtouri (2092 meters or 6862 feet).

The area is forested for the most part, with fir, pine, and beech tress, and includes also alpine pasture higher up. For flora, Peristeri is best known by botanists.

In general the area has many mountain birds, with breeding birds of pretty. A difficult area to get into, it is best accessed from dirt roads on the west; Peristeri via lesser roads off of the E92 west of Metsovo, and via Mega Peristeri village.
