National Gardens, Zappio, Agora Precinct

Athens, a large bituminous monstrosity of some 5 million souls, for all its concrete and air pollution, has some green areas both within and around it, some of which have good flora and fauna and offer a bit of peace and quiet to tortured ears.

Athens has the smallest amount of green, per capita, of any major city in Europe. Help!

Very central and God sent are, in addition to those mentioned below, the Acropolis hill which has its share of flora and fauna, (Its really the Greek Agora precinct that has got the green bits) as does the large Philopapou hill nearby, and just off Constitution Square, the National Gardens (map above right), all very green areas in which to wander along paths, write a post card home or eat a picnic lunch.
