Greek Recipe: Stewed Lamb

GREEK RECIPE: Stewed Lamb

  • 2 lbs lean lamb cut into 1" pcs
  • 6 Tbs butter
  • 1 lg onions minced
  • 2 cups tomato puree
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1/4 cup dry red wine
  • salt and pepper to taste

 

Heat butter in a pot, add onions, garlic and sautee until golden. Add meat and brown. Add all other ingrediants and simmer covered for about 1.5 hours or until meat is tender. Remove cinnamon stick and discard. Serve over any form of pasta, steamed rice or mashed potatoes. Serves 6.
